The iShop project
began in 1999. The company started with Mr.
Knight and one
seed investor and went on to hire 89 employees,
contract 1.8 million products, raise
millions of dollars and file for a $50 mil.
IPO, all within approximately one year of its
formation.
In that span of time,
the company's business-to-business division
signed a contract estimated at $ 100 mil. in
bidding volume with Festo Corporation a
billion dollar manufacturing company and performed
approximatly $24 to $ 35 mil. of the
procurement bidding for its client.
After the crash of
internet company stocks,
the company did not pursue it's IPO and with
most internet companies going bankrupt or
closing their doors, much of its comptition
was out, yet iShop was debt free and today
www.ishopnomarkup.net offers 6.5
mil. products at reduced prices including
books, movies and music.
The company is
currently contemplating continuing its IPO
or
staying private with over 350 investors that
are equity-holders and expand through mergers
and acquistions.
